I'm overclocking my Sapphire x850XT (520/540) stock currently, and I got a small artifact at 570mhz Core and backed it down to (560/600) and I am currently stress testing the video card. The core temp is hitting stable temps at about 69-72c. Is this too high? What is the best temp for a video card to max out at while gaming? I don't want this card to be at a huge risk of alot of decrease in the life of the card, and if I have to lower the mhz of the core/mem to have a smarter max temp, I will do so. Input please? Thanks.

Here are the figures.

Sapphire x850XT

Stock 520/540
- 37c IDLE
- 67c FULL LOAD

OC (559/598)
- 39c IDLE
- 71c FULL LOAD

These temps are safe temps?

yes very safe... 71c is nothing really... have you seen some of the stock 6800gt's with the crappy coolers? they are hitting 90c+ and still works fine :)

What are you using to overclock ?

What the hell happened to the driver based overclock feature ?

ATI Tool just garbled everything up when I hit around 542 ... so, not using it. Seems it should have shut down before that.

i disagreed with atitool's temp, try everest.

www.lavalys.com and dl everest from em. after u installed it on ur system, open it up and go to computer > sensor there u go. it should display actual temperature value i believe. This helped me a lot on my 9800 XT video card.

well, everest displays 10 degrees exactly lower than in my nvidia control panel for my ultra..
