X850 XT Temperatures

Hi,

I've got my X850 XT clocked to Platinum Edition speeds, (540 / 590) during the course of hammering a good 3D game e.g. Half-Life 2 - I find that at times the card reaches temps upto 62C, is this acceptable? Or is it pushing the limits to where i may damage the card.

I'm using ATI Tray Tools for the clocking, ensuring that the cooler is running at 100%.

Regards

Mort

I don't have that card, but if there are no artifacts on the screen, you're fine. just clock it like 10mhz lower than when artifacts show up

Those temperatures are normal. No, problem, leads me to beleive that ATI made a good choice in their cooling soloution for the 850 because my 800 runs 68c under load with a Zalman cooler.

Wow, i have that card and i too have it clocked to PE levels, the highest ive ever seen it get was about 50C. I have stock cooling, but i have a modded case where i used a holesaw to make a 80mm hole in the side of my case window right in front of the card where the air gets sucked into the cards heatsink(i did it for my chipset, the NForce4 gets hot when your fsb is 270), so maybe thats why its so lower.

I'm interested if anyone can discuss heat dispensation of this card over previous cards like the 9800XT.

Since the card has a "slot fan", exausting heat out the back of the PC instead of letting it build up in side, does this help with CPU / Case temps at all?

It seems like good engineering that these cards have on them - for cooling the card, but does it help at all with the overall heat of your system?

Thanks,
Dim-Ize

Should keep it cooler i'd imagine since your not putting that heat into the case like the older video cards do (unless you get aftermarket cooling, ect).

My Sapphire X850XT@PE goes to 85C at maximum.

I've seen many other posting same kind of temperatures, temps dops very fast after 3D is closed, idle temps are 30-40C. I have only one 120mm Papst case fan @5V. The stock cooling is supprisingly quiet!

Are you running the cooler @100% you got to have earplugs...

I'm running it @stock speed steps so it's only 17% to 80C...

Wow I dont know whats going on my X800XT runs 50c load and 35c Idle with stock heatsink. Maybe some of you should post pics of your case setup and what not.

Slightly OT, but is there a way of monitoring x800 card temps in-game, without an external probe/readout - like some lil proggy you can set to display 'always in front'...?

i have the sapphire x850xt, clocked to PE for a while not worth the hassel for 5-8 frames increase, temps running between 75-80, and it wont be stable for long
u will c artifacts in about an hour so not recommended for the extra 5 frames u will get
the card runs fine at stock no need to clock now

Those 80C temps are normal on gaming. The fan is temp controlled. I have adjusted my cooling fan doing:
5% 0-70C
10% 70-80C
20% 80-85C
30% 85-90C
50% 90-95C
100% 95C-

By default its
5% 0-91C
18% 91-96
32% 96-98C
100% 98C-

Lol sorry you didnt get what I meant.
I mean that I dont get how the X850s can run that hot with a much better cooler while my card runs at such nice Temps on the stock settings.

Lmao yeah! I have my headphones on most of the time when i play, but i'm only familiar with the normal / abnormal CPU temperatures, so when i saw my GFX card hitting 62 and since then higher, i started shitting it  and whacked the fan upto 100% :D

I agree there must be something wrong or my case has really good placement ;)
But I have a 800pro modded to XT PE, pipes and all, and with a stock cooler running at 85% ive reached 65 once and that was because I loaded the doom3 test map that has around 100 monsters in one room, either than that i never get above 55 under load and 39 idle
