X850 XT in a shuttle case?

I know it's a 2 slot cooler and all, but I remember seeing somewhere in the forums a pic of a shuttle with a 2 slot nvidia card in it. If I can recall the person cut out the side of the shuttle exactly matching the dimensions of the hsf on the card. It looked sweet but I didn't get around to asking the person if the fan ran a little loud while gaming, since it was basically outside of the case. Anybody consider this or know of anyway I could make this work? My case is the SN41G2 and I've already upgraded to the slient-x power supply.
 
I have a friend who has X850XT-PE, he said the card wasn't loud when he has his case open. He said it wasn't as loud as my X800XL's fan.
 
Get an X800XL, top card, almost equal performance for less, cooler, etc etc... Spend the extra on a zalman VF700 or artcic cooling if the noise bothers you (alternatively, just buy an X800XL with a decent fan preinstalled)
 
I had both cards (x800 xl and currently x850-xt) The X850-XT is a smaller card physically, but it is a 2 slot as you've stated. Keep the physical size in mind with the Shuttle. Both are very quiet... I had the oppurtunity to upgrade to the XT for 50 bucks CDN so I took it... worth it for the temperature sensor and the better stock cooler IMO. Performance isn't a really noticable difference in all honesty. Oh and overdrive is a piece of shit.
