Well, I finally got my crossfire setup I ordered from Monarch today. All in all, I was pretty dissapointed. I paid for two day shipping, and they didn't ship the cards for 5 business days.

When I received them, on the x850xt card, I peeled back the tape on the anti-static bag, and out falls a capacitor. As of now, the card is running fine, but I dunno if it's going to hurt the card/need to solder it back on. (Don't have a soldering iron :( )

I had all of my other parts ready.. because I ordered them from the egg the day after I ordered the crossfire setup, and they got here 3 days before my monarch purchase did.

I will say the cards together are loud as hell. Definately not a setup for those who like quietness.

What is recommended to push these cards to? And I haven't opened up ATITool yet on the system, I assume it's crossfire compatible.

Anyone else have a similar setup, and what are your clocks / 3dmark06 scores?

Thanks

Use ATI Tool to adjust the fan speed, it well help out a lot. As for overclocking, I am a fairly modest overclock of 560/640. I could have pushed the core a little bit harder, but I got some minor artifacts at 575 after playing Fear for a while.

hmm my 3dmark05/06 score is relatively low (around 4k in 06, 6800 in 05) with clocks at 615/630...

Could this mean that only one of my cards is powering the system? I expected a lot higher scores than this..

nope that is about right, my x1800xt gets about 4000 in 3dmark06, which is about = to 2 850's

I could be wrong, but I thought the CCC was needed to activate the Crossfire configuration, and wasn't yet supported in 3rd party apps like ATi Tool and ATi Tray Tools.

Yeah, while the 4000 in 06 seems right, the 6800 in 05 seems low (most X850 CF setups I've seen have been able to break 8000). My single X850XT PE can go up to just below 6400.

9300 in 3d05 now, dunno if i had something hogging my video or what. still seems a little low though.

9300 in 05 is great actually. With some [H] OCing, you might be able to get it past 10K... :)

X850XT in Crossfire = X1800XT, basically.
