X850 Crossfire advice

My cousin bought an X850 crossfire card some time ago with the intentions to go crossfire, but never did. Friday he bought an SLI setup, and I managed to talk him out of his crossfire card for free.
If you look in my sig you'll see that I don't have a motherboard capable or running crossfire, but my video card will match up great with this one.

Should I:
A) Sell my motherboard, and buy something crossfire capable
B) Sell both cards, and buy something newer.
 
I would personally sell the motherboard and get a good CF mobo. All together, it shouldn't cost you any more than $230 all together and will give you performance rivaling (or even bettering) an X1800XT in most games. As long as SM 3.0 isn't that big of a deal for you, you'll be set to go.
 
I say sell both and get one newer card.

With the dongle resolution limit and all, it doesn't seem worth it.
 
The resolution thing isn't going to be a problem. I have 2 monitors at my disposal. A 19" LCD, and 19" Widescreen LCD. 1280x1024 or 1440x900 isn't going to be a problem. Since my desk is so small anything bigger would be bordering on ridiculous.

After thinking about it though, I'll have to replace my PSU if I go with a new motherboard.
Then I'm a cheap 939 processor away from upgrading my NF7-S/XP-M 2600+ HTPC.
Maybe this is the best option with price cuts coming. I'll be able to upgrade 2 machines in 1 purchase .

Selling both cards should be able to get something in the X1900XT/7900GTX range without much out of pocket if any which is always attractive.

So the question comes down to maximum return for my money, or fewer dollars spent?
 
Im confused, after looking at your sig, it seems like you have a X800GTO2. I know the X800GTO2 can be unlocked to 16 pipes and easily overclocked to X850XT speeds but it will not work in Crossfire with the X850XT CF card. You will need the X800 CF card to put that in Crossfire.

After flashing with a 16-pipe modded GTO BIOS, and ensuring the clockspeeds were stable I flashed it with an X850XT BIOS. It has been that way for months without issue. If everything thinks it is an X850XT I don't see why crossfire wouldn't aswell.
