Hey guys,

Just wondering, i have a BBA X850Pro modded to 16 Pipes but i cant seem to overclock the core very much 500>536? My temps sit around 66 full load,

should i invest in a new cooler?

i was thinkin the Thermalright V1 ultra? will it be adaptable to the X1800 X1900 series later on?

and possibly a volt mod to bring some higher clocks?

any input would be great!

Cheers

I did this exact same mod. YOU MUST get another cooler or plan on keeping your card for about 6 months before it burns up. I've got the thermal take cu-700 or something like that. Comes with RAM sinks. I keep my settings at 520/540, but when I play BF2 or something crazy like FEAR, I bump it up to 550/560.

No point in burning up a perfectly good vid card.

See the thing is, I thought that because when i got this it was such a good deal, that i would but the 3year extended no hassle warranty. Even the sales guy, said look but this card now and just before your warranty is up bring it back and say somthing is wrong with it and we will replace it with somthing of equal value!

So if it burns up...meh, as long as i dont do any extensive mods (soldering) i think things should be alright. i just ordered the Thermalright V1Ultra, and hope to pencil vmod it soon!

My first choice: V1 Ultra all the way. however, when installed on my x800gto2, the fan on it was hitting my cpu hs. Make sure you have the clearance. Installing the supplied fan on the core side of the cooler is no good. The fan needs to be at the end of the heatpipe cyccle for effectiveness. 2nd choice is the Zalman VF700CU, but get some better ramsinks, like tweakmonsters or ozc bga ramsinks.

Yeah I have an Asrock board and the AGP slot is exceptionally low so I have tons of clearance. I am going to mount a 90mm fan (w/adapter) with double the CFM to the top cooler and use the supplied 80mm on the bottom of the card. Should bring temps close to watercooling!

Hey

The new cooler should be ariving today, i got a crazy deal on it for $25 Canadian! i will post a review of how things work out at stock themps on the card are 44idle and 66load (stock volts) I am gonna install the cooler, see what the temps are like, and then volt-mod the card accordingly :D
