I'm currently working at circuit city and I recently recommended the X850 PRO to a customer who was getting the 6800 vanilla at the same price. (Obviously, the X850 PRO will slaughter it.) Anyway, I remembered also that there were never any realy X850 PRO's in AGP. Just X850XT/XTPE's (R481) and that these were R481 cores. I scanned the UPC for the hell of it to see what I could get it for.
Funny thing is, it is so obvious these are X850 XT's. The model number says RAD X850XT right on the box on top of the UPC. Now these are 299.99 (had a $100 mail in rebate like the 6800 vanilla but it ended.)
With my discount I could actually get this for 250. I'd had a 6800 GT since launch, and have always wanted to play with an X800 card. Keep in mind I don't plan to upgrade till next year and since NV and ATI have no new high agp cards in sight, I figured this was the perfect time to dip and play with an X850 PRO (XT) for a year till I finally make the PCIE switch. Thinking sell my 6800 for 215, pay the difference etc..
Should I give it a shot? Or buy it and sell it for 300? Any suggestions?
