Recapping:
He checked the records and found no card ordered. Next he took the order for the card, apologized for the failed web order, put me on hold for a minute while called the warehouse and confirmed they were in stock, authorized the discount price of $416.66 plus state taxes of $38.54, and also authorized free priority shipping.
Now under order status on Dell's site:
This information is current as of Friday, August 20, 2004.Delayed Items
Currently one or more items are backordered. Every effort is being made to complete the order.
SKU: <> A0381920 Quantity: 1
Description: <> Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition :
Perhaps it was too good to be true. Still, it was worth a try.
Now to look into this "GT" I see people discussing. If the X800XT truly is endlessly I'll probably return to the Nvidia camp and plant one of those power sucking, slot blocking, futureproof Nvidias. I've always liked the bleeding edge.
Anyone gone with the new dual card PCI solutions?

Hopefully Dell will flex it's OEM muscle and get some of these cards in sooner than later. I know this situation has PO'd (that's "pissed off" for those of you that took the short yellow bus to school) Dell as well. If any OEM gets these cards, I would think the first would be Big Daddy Dell.
halcyon said:So... my order delay date of 9/30 is coming up... what do you think the odds of getting another indefinitly delayed email are?

LordBritish said:I agree, time is money.
I spent $590 on a 6800 Ultra that was available on newegg.com at that moment - 2 days later I got it and I was dooming away.
I hope you're dooming away coz I'm having a blast![]()
If you think you're gunna get a X800 XT-PE for $420, then you're obviously very optimistic.
You'll probably end up wasting a lot of time and you'll probably be dissapointed in the end.
jgdiaz said:I agree, I just got the 6800GTOC at Fry's, put in an NV5 Silencer modified with a Sanyo Denki 800mm fan and I am Doomiinnngg away with my GT running at 425 / 1115 and the load temp never goes above 64c.
