x800xt --> x850xt AGP

Since the AGP flavor of the x850's are coming out,

anyone have any leads on modding x800xt's up to x850's ?
 
its not posible, the X800 cores are based of the 13u micron, the X850 cores are based on 11u micron the difference between the two are: one to uses less power (ie:11u micron fabrication process) two; minor tweeks to the X800 core to achive slightly higher speeds.

Note: the X800 XL core is based of the 11u Micron
 
They are the same cores exactly other than small clock and memory increases.
I thought the X850s were 13's as well and only the X800XLs were 11's? I doubt anyone could push the Core clocks of teh X850s on a 11u fab and I thought thats why they had to due a 13ufab.

I think ur right..only the x800xl were .11

Yeah, it's called OC your card. Same core, different name
 
the X850 cores are R490 cores.

the X850 agp are .11u micron fab, but becuase they still require an outside power source( agp doesn't give a full 75 watts of power like PCIE slots do) so they require just a floppy (sub 4 pin molex power connector ) aposed to both a standard molex and a sub molex connector like the old x800 .13u cores. because of this you may be able to oc some, if you have an x850 card try it.

but the X850's are based off there PCIE counterpart versions just with a agp bridge, (ie: still a .11uMF)

P.S. does any one know how much power an AGP slot can put out at max, in watts?
 
No no I dont think thats right. here is a picture of a AGP X850 notice the Molex.
