the XT will handle AA/AF better, which is what high end cards are made forjinu117 said:Felix... what kind of games do you play on it honestly?
Been playing UT2004 and CS:S and it seems to me 6800GT fares better than X800XT from my exposure @ 1600x1200, default setting (which is pretty much about all things maxed or close to). At lower res like 1024x768, X800XT steps up but @ the high res, it seems to have much more variance in FPS than 6800GT which is not to my liking for obvious reasons.
Keep the card then, its not a big enough speed increase.b1NARY73 said:I have an eVGA 6800GT, and love this card....don't get me wrong. I just kinda miss the ATI drivers, and it seems to me that my 9800XT had better IQ than the 6800 series. I have owned a 6800NU and this GT. I am thinking of trading my 6800GT for an X800XT or a PE possibly. But I DO love my gt........it is a hard decision.

even doom3 isn't a sweep anymorebatty said:Eh, nowadays Nvidia and ATI are trading off on high rez high AA benchs. It isn't a clean sweep like with Nvidia and OpenGL games. Besides, I'd say wait a few weaks and see what the ForceWare 70xxs offer once they get out of alpha since as it stands this battle is more about drivers than hardware.

I don't care how many fps you get, since I'm not sure the level you're talking about, but with catalyst a.i the XT-PE matchs the 6800 ultra on the level websites comparing the XT-PE and 6800 ultra with catalyst a.ibatty said:You've got an XTPE and D3 right? Can you get 46.3 FPS at 1600x1200 HQ 4xAA in the timedemo? D3 is still markedly Nvidia's, ATI can shader replace up the wazzo but they can't replace their hardware.
You should be more worried CSS, since it seems ATI is loosing in that too [the 6600GT is destroying the X700XT in that game].
HL2 is be equally enjoyable from a FPS(frames not first person) perspective, I suspect, just the X800 has better IQ.bizzy420 said:i actually jsut sold my 6800gt. in CS:S in action the gt would drop to 35fps, my friends x800pro, NEVER dropped to 35fps, and his sytem was very similiar to mine.
the thing about the Gt is, it hit 188fps, but would drop to 35fps in action,
the x800pro only hit 172fps, but NEVER dropped to 35fps.
thats the main reason why i sold my Gt, i couldnt stand it dropping that low.
the GT killed my friends x800 ( but that was old drivers you know the memory bug), but
doom3 is only fun the first time, im gonna be playing hl2 and Cs:s alot more than d3.
