Will I be able to run that monitor with that card? I play a lot of counter-strike source and BF2 sometime.

When I look at my connection on my card and look at that website , I get the DVI-I dual link.

This widescreen and connection thing is new for me. My current monitor is a 19 inch KDS visual sensations.

Don't know. I guess that's the question I should have asked. Is it?

I don't believe it is dual link dvi, as the only results I'm getting when I search for it is a "mac edition" that has dual link dvi to support their 30' cinema displays.

Even assuming that your card does have dual link dvi doesn't get around the fact that no way in hell could it provide you with a playable framerate at that monitor's native res...maybe if you played 1.6 instead of source :)

it might stress the card slightly on bf2 at such a high res but source should stay above 30 all the time

2560x1600 on a measily x800xt...
Yeah, good fucking luck, unless you're playing UT2K4 lol
The X1900's and 7900's/7600's have the capability for dual link. I'd want an X1900/7900 at the very least for any games like BF2...

yes but he obviously knows he is going to have to put everything on low...

Thanks for all the replies guys, that helps. I know I wont be able to run all my games at full res but at least play at a resonable quality. I'll be upgrading my videocard at the end of summer so 'till then as long as the monitor runs on it I'm good. The reason I started this thread is because the monitor was on sale for 1499$ CDN on dell.ca for one day and I thought it was a good deal so I bought it. I should have made more research before buying it.

If your dvi link has a 6 pin space in the middle of the other pins, then its single link. If there is no gap in the pins (the main, digital ones, not the analog pins in the plus sign looking shape), then it is dual link.

My x800xt have the second one so I guess Im good to go. :)

Added: Is there any good cheap (300$ CDN) upgrade I could do or should I just wait?

So I finally got the screen and its amazing. But one thing I hate is that I can't play with my resolution in windows. The card have 2 dvi connections (image) and one of them will let me put a max of 2048x1536 wich the image is bigger than the monitor (Have to pan around) and the other connection wont let me do anything except for 800x600 and 1280x800.

I have the latest Cat 6.3 and I am using atitool 0.25 beta 13. Its my first LCD screen so I dont know if I forgot anything while installing.

ok, which one? Money in CDN

-sapphire x1900xt 555$ (special) or
-Asus 7900gt 394$

Well then perhaps he should consider a smaller monitor with a lower native resolution.
