x800xl unknown device

I've got an ATI x800xl installed in my system and I installed the latest Catalyst drivers and control panel.

The card seems to work fine but I have two "unknown device"s listed in the device manager under "other devices" that say they are located "on RADEON X800 series" so every time I boot windows finds new hardware but can't install it. (so I've got them disabled in the device manager so it will quit that)

So, the question is: What are these devices and what needs installed?
 
first of all, id uninstall those catalyst drivers. many people have had tons of trouble with them.
 
Nope, its not an AIW...

And I did try earlier versions of Catalyst, but maybe I'll try the Omegas and see if that does anything.

I never did get a CD with this card. Is there other software besides the drivers that actually do something? ATIs web site just has the drivers.

Sounds like a VIVO X800XL card. Maybe just try installing the WDM integrated drivers from ATi. Or you can get them separately as well.
 
If it's Windows XP64 that's your problem - Catalyst drivers break the native WDM support. It's been an issue with both 5.5 and 5.6.

The Catalyst package for XP32 does, I believe, include the WDM support. If it didn't load it automatically try browsing out to the c:\ati and subfolders to see if it picks them up somewhere in there.
