X800XL temp issues

my X800xl is idling around 56-58C, under load it is hitting the 105C-110C range

occasionally will freeze for a second in games, and when the action continues it produces crazy artifacts that persist even when exiting back to windows(these will continue until i reboot)

I was considering this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835186129
from newegg, some of the reviews indicate the fan on it will only last a short period of time, and i was wondering what the general opinion of the arctic cooling aftermarket coolers was

do the fans really crap out in a span of months, or can it safely be relied on for at least a year or so until i upgrade next?

The temps on my card with the stock cooler concern me because the ambient case temp and the cpu are both far lower than that, and the video card is not even overclocked

feedback on the cooler i linked or alternate cooling devices would be appreciated.

With temps like that on the stock cooler, I'd hazard a guess that you either have a defective card, or the heatsink simply isn't seated properly. Maybe try taking off the heatsink and wiping the core/base and reapplying some thermal paste before you fork out on a cooler that you might not even need?
It's not uncommon to get a badly mounted HSF.
