Just installed my new x800xl & upon booting there are blocks of blue/green & purple colours vertically across the screen. Once logged in there are pink & green horizontal lines from top to bottom of desktop. Not overclocking the card & checked the temps in the case & the card & all ok.

I'm guessing hardware problem???

Oh Shazzbot that is not good dud, I also just bought the same Card and will be putting my new rig together this week, as long as the case gets here that is. Please let me know the out come and what your fix was. I hoping nopt to have the same problem

You probably won't have the same problem, this sounds like an isolated incident. The original poster should consider an RMA.

I've just dug out an old 4mb graphics blaster exxtreme! Replaced the x800xl and lo & behold all display issues resolved. Will be doing an RMA asap. Don't think i'll be playing much hl2 tho!!!!! Shall i try and benchmark the card?!!!!

I had a connect3d x800xl, which replaced a very reliable connect3d 9800pro so i think i've just been unlucky on this occasion (first time in 3 years & 2 upgrades i've had a faulty piece of hardware.)

Ahh okay I hope you don't have any problems RMAing, and thanks for the info and getting back to my guys :)
Also have you thought about getting your money back instead and just getting a ATI Original, I got mine from Compusa for $299.00, Just an idea.
