I just bought a Samsung 940b 19" monitor with a native resolution of 1280x1024. With my 17" crt I had to run it at 1152x864 because any higher and the low refresh rate would give me headaches.
So I always ran games (mainly counter-strike:source and HL2) in either 1024 or 1152. The new monitor doesn't look good at all in any other res than 1280, so I've moved to playing in that res.
Now when i play CS:S, everything is fine for perhaps 20 minutes, then things freeze, sometimes the screen goes crazy with vertical lines, the game crashes, and an error about how "the memory could not be read" pops up.
This is a common error in CS:S, but I hadn't gotten it in a long time, but now after switching monitors, I get it almost every time I play.
Any ideas? The nature of the crashes is different from previous crashes in this game, it "feels" graphics related, if that makes sense. I've always felt this XL was a dud.
