Hi all,

Changed my mind from the ASUS V9999GE to the X800Pro VIVO. Proberly going to be Club 3D's since they are the cheapest...

What do you think about the card and can it run on a 300W Power Supply?

Hope you can give me some answers,

I would definantly not reccomend running either of those cards on a 300watt psu. I don't think it will run at all allthough it MIGHT. Especially if it's an off brand psu or has low amps on the different rails then it will not work. I would invest in a new psu and maybe a slightly cheaper card like the 6800NU.

Ati recommends at least a 300 watt power supply for the X800 series, so it will run fine with it. A friend of mine runs a 12 pipe Pro on a el cheapo old 250watt ps for months, without any problem.

But they are still cheapest. It looks like it's a okay cooling system they use on this card too. Any other brands you reccommend if we're staying in the same price class.
 
You get what you pay for. When you open up your shrink wrapped club 3d box and notice the seal on the esd bag was broken, you just have to wonder (this happened on 5 cards from various vendors, all were the counter strike boxes). None were stable with 16 pipes enabled even at pro speeds. Good luck, and don't post in here complaining about your card once you get it....

I've read a lot about the OC to XT's 16 pipelines and even XT's speed. Maybe you should check this: http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=22637&page=1&pp=15

Actually I don't really need OC'ing since I'm sitting with a GeForce 2 Ti200 here, so a X800Pro would be a BIG improvement!
 
When looking for a card cheapist isnt always best and vice-versa. I personally stick with a name that has a good clean track record. There right you get what you pay for. I chose a 6800Ultra for my rig, my brother chose a x800pro Vivo which he softmodded and Oc'd to XT PE speeds. We always argue about which one is better. Good Luck! ;)
