Well, I got somewhat inspired today, and noticed my very old Thermaltake Xaser 11 HSF on a shelf. I looked @ it for a few minutes, examining its size and wieght. I remembered back how I did my barton hsf mod on my old 9700 pro. So with that thought in mind, I said what the hell, lets see if I can get this baby on my x800pro. With the x800 base/card design being simple and based on a fairly large hsf concept. I sized up the Tt Xaser hsf and saw that it could indeed fit with the proper installation. I started right away taking the stock hsf off, and giving it a once over for any ideas on how to install the mod. I took my old Xaser hsf and placed masking tape along the base, then sized it up to the x800 card and got it aligned and what not, then made the markings with a narrow pen from the holes. I then started the drilling, so on and so forth.
All in all the mod was a success, and well done if I may say so myself.
I re-lapped the hsf base due to dullness and Tt isn't the best on base finishing. [@least not on the xaser 11 line]
The mod only set me back about $2 bucks for the screws and drill bits.
The fan is nothing great, a simple Antec UV BLUE LED case fan with low cfm. tho I get good cooling off it.
Stock gave me around 44-45c idle, 55-65c load.
My Xaser 11 HSF mod gives me 34-35c idle, 40-45c load.
Keep in mind im using the XT bios with xt clock speeds on my x800pro.
I'm gonna go to my local stores tomorrow and get a better fan, with more CFM/air flow. I'm sure a better fan will drop the temps down a good bit.
I get a max of 605/590 with the XT default vcore and the hsf mod.
I've got a good bit of progress pix, start to finish below.

Enjoy
