I have a Visiontek x800Pro video card, and I was wondering if there was anyway I can hook it up to my TV or VCR in order to use it as a monitor. I'm not sure what cable/s I would need to do this, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
The card should come with an s-video to RCA adapter. You plug that into the back of the S-video on the x800 and the RCA into your TV. Just plug in the computer alone OR you could have them hooked up at the same time. Boot up the system and the TV out will start up. If you run it through the monitor at first, you will have to setup the tv manually in the drivers. If you run the TV by itself off the computers tv out, it will boot up with that alone. I hope that helps you out man, if you have anymore questions, let me know.
Of you want to hook it up through the VCR, you have to kind do the same as the tv, make sure the tv is set to receive whatever input you put the RCA cable in on it, and fire up the computer or set it up in the device settings on the video card settings. It's not too terribly difficult.
the S-Video to RCA adapter is the cable that splits into 3 wires, colors: Red, Green, Blue. right? which colors go to which? red to red, then what? yellow to green and white to blue?
Or am i looking at it completely wrong? because if these 3 wires are for the S video, what about the sound.
nope ... if u have an svideo in on ur tv .. then just hook up the svideo out to the svideo in on ur tv ... if u dont have svidio then u will have to hook up the yellow wire to the yellow input on ur tv
as for sound .. that comes off ur pc .. a video card does not transfer sound .. if u want the tv to play the sound then u can hook up the sound from ur sound card to the tv and then the tv can play sound .. that's the only way possible .. or to an amp ofcourse ..
