My x800pro keeps overheating and it isn't oc'ed at all. What can i do to fix this. I have gone as far as opening it, laying it on its side, with my celing fan blowing on it. Is there something wrong with the card?

Thanks

The heatsink could not be making correct contact with the core. Either try to take apart and reseat the cooler or get a new cooling device. You might also want to blow the dust out of the fan with compressed air and make sure the fan is spinning at a proper rate while in use.

Pretty much the same as I was going to recommend. it is possible that the cooler isn't making proper contact or it is faulty in some way. How old is the card? The least intrusive (although most time consuming/awkward) thing to do if the card is fairly new is to see if you can RMA it...but it'd be worth removing the stock cooler and re-seating it with some new thermal compound. Aside from re-seating the cooler/themal compound you could try and aftermarket cooler, and if that doesn't help you out I don't really see what else you could do. It's most likely an issue with the coolers contact or the cooler itself...so the most fail-safe thing to try would be to replace the cooler with something aftermarket.

Thanks a lot guys, i'll look into an aftermarket cooler. Any recommendations?

Quietest cooler you're going to find that also has VERY good cooling properties/potential would be the Arctic Cooling Silencer. There's a model that works fine with your card and it cools the memory and GPU. Have at 'er man, hopefully this helps.

i have a x800pro agp card, and i use the Zalman vf700ALCU cooler, it works great! My card is OC'ed to 573core/546mem and my card never goes above 55C at max load (artifact testing). While playing games, i noticed that it never gets even close to 50C. The all copper version is cheap nowadays, i would suggest that, plus, compatible with a wide range of cards.

All too true, the Zalman is nice also...but for cards that support it I tend to prefer the Silencer...just because of personal history/preference.
