Can anyone give me an idea of how the x800p handles morrowind? (res, frame rates)

I swore that I would not play it again until it could be lag free.

Thanks.

well my 9800 handles it pretty well as far as graphics smooth(1280 rez), i still get the annoying loading "pauses" while im out roaming the wilderness tho =\ about the only thing i know to solve that would be 1gig RAM and/or some sort of RAID 0 array

anyway to answer the question directly i think that if my 9800 handles it pretty well, then the X800Pro would be more than capable of taking care of you ;)

There are several tweaks for Morrowind that can help out performance quite a bit. If you want to get rid of those loading pauses then open up the Morrowind.ini file and change the following:

DontThreadLoad=0

to

DontThreadLoad=1

Also, set your max FPS to something your monitor can handle. I would suggest 85 fps if your monitor refreshes at 85Hz.

More Morrowind tweaks can be found here:

yea ive tried all those, its not quite as bad as i may have made it sound but its still one of those annoying kinda deals. but ive done just about everything imaginable for quests in that game so ive pretty much moved on, still a nice stressful engine for even modern cards tho.

Just playing Morrowing and its quests gets boring after a while. You should check out the official elder scrolls forums. Its home of one of the largest modding communities online. The TES Construction Set makes it simple for anyone to get involved in created their own part of Morrowind. You can alter or add just about anything you can think of. I really enjoy creating my own HUGE castles on an island with a big court yard and shops and everything for my character to live at.

I wouldn't dare play Morrowind without some of the top plugins installed. There are just SOOOO many good ones its hard to keep up. There is a mod list of the latest and greatest on the forums though and it lists all the ones you just can't live without. The visual packs for Morrowind are incredible. Completely re-textured models for the NPC's, ground, trees, buildings, everything. It doesn't even look like the same world any more.

Check out this thread for some of the BEST.

I'm sure he has released an updated July thread now though. So look for it on the forums.

And if your interested, here is the plugin that i'm working on.

There are a few screenshots. They aren't real great though and its just the beginning stages. I'll post better screenies later on.
