X800GTO2 artifacts/Driver issue or GPU screwed?

hey guys, look at this. I just got this X800GTO2 (refurb). yea yea, it's a chance. if i can try to fix this, it'd be great, but this seems kind of messed up. think i can fix it guys? it's my second time i've sent a card in to newegg in the past week, if i don't have to, i don't want to send it back.

i'm surfin the web with this right now and it's startin to get on my nerves. what do you guys think? Thanks for the help//advice
 
I just installed standard Ati Drivers, the 6.5 catalysts and i can't get into windows. there's this huge artifact when i'm choosing log in for Xp and everything is completely artifacted from there. Anything i can do?
 
99% of the time, artifacting/lines in windows = card is toast.

Send it back.. who knows, they may upgrade you :)
 
ADDED:

I would avoid the GTO/GT refurbs like the plague.. most of those "refurb" cards are just cards that got returned because somebody tried to flash it to XTPE specs and toasted the card or it was unsuccesful and they damaged it in the meantime. I would either pay a few bucks more and get new, or find another card.
 
so theres pretty much no chance of trying to fix this without sending it back? Also, im thinking of two choices, send it to Sapphire or send it to newegg. which would be smarter? newegg gives 25 dollars off shipping for RMA stuff or they send you a new card for free, but i gotta pay shipping to them. Im not sure what Sapphires RMA service is. Ive called them three times and got the same guy tellin me to send to newegg........ who should i send it to? remember, this card is a refurb too :(


o, and how do i know if it's a screwed up flash? I've got a bunch of utilities on that hard drive and my vanilla x800 sittin next to me. I can put that into the system to uninstall the drivers (since i could boot into windows with no drivers on the card, only the artifacts) and check. If it's a screwed up flash, could I recover it?
