Got a Connect3D GTO successfully unlocked to 16 pipes, running like an X800 XT (500,500)

I would like to keep the temps down somewhat.. even though the stock cooler does well with moderate overclocking..

I've had previously bad experiences with an Artic Silver cooler on a previous Sapphire 9800SE ... I put the cooler on, and the card worked for a few days, and poof.. no more video.. this happened twice... I'm not sure what went wrong.. the Artic Silver was mounted correctly, since the heatsink was warm to the touch

Is the Zalman cooler an easier cooler to put on than the AS Silencer??

I just got my card today and unlocked it to 16 also. running at 540/590 on stock cooling.
want to get a better cooler and was wondering the same question.

btw best money i ever spent...also the easiest hack i've ever done :)

I have not had the silencer, but the zalman is easy to put on, and is quiter from what I have seen. Some will prefer the silencer because it will exhaust the hot air from the case and the zalman doesnt,(neither does stock).

i actually went to a silencer for testing and i didnt see much improvment in clock speeds. 6 mhz core 8 mhz memory. it was only for testing as i ran it under water..

i snapped some pic's of the stock cooler so you hace reference when looking at new ones.

Call me crazy but my brother put on a silencer and it didnt perform any better then the stock... Not in any way that justifies the price...

I told him to go water cooling... but again cost to performance needs to be factored in.
