x800gt vs 6800

[roshambo]

x800gt or 6800
the x800gt has 256mb gddr3 vs 128mb ddr on the 6800, but the 6800 has 12 pipelines vs the x800gts 8 pipelines. Overall the x800gt seems like the better choice but the 6800 has the possibility of unlocking to 16 pipelines i think the x800gt can be flashed with an x850 bios although im not so sure. I want the card that can offer better overclocked/unlocked performance

6800 for sure man, there is a really high success rate for unlocking the pipes and OCing to 6800GT speeds.

On AGP, 6800nu for sure. On PCI-E, they are pretty close, as the 6800nu performs the exact same as a 6600GT. In benchies, the X800GT is behind the 6600GT, although close. You may be able to find an X800np or X800GTO, which will get you 12 pipes, in the same price range.

Is there a better choice than eVGA? because theres also Apollo and Leadtek they come with a better software package and its $10 cheaper but is there a considerable performance difference? the x800np and gto are too far out of my price range

Exactly. Why wouldn't you get a X800 GTO for a little less money and unlock/OC it to 16 pipe X850XT clone?
