Does the x800 xt pe bios prohibit an x800 xt pe card from overclocking too much? Or is it that the card is close to its maximum hardware capability? If it is the bios that is prohibiting it, is there an unlocked version of the bios that allows it to overclock higher than with the factory bios? Thanks in advance.

My card has no such bios limitations. I can overclock it till it artifacts or locks up. Which I don't do at all if I can help it. ;)

ok. I havent overclocked mine as yet but based on what people have said it seems that they cant overclock the x800 xt pe much more than the stock even with better cooling.

As you mentioned it's because the card are clocked so high to begin with. My cards memory is very 'ify' when it comes to temps and overclocking. Gets real hot if I overclock to much. My core however is a champ. The Zalman cooler I have on it really chews down the heat. Found its voltage limits at 585mhz or so. I could have Viper John or some1 do good things with this card.

Thats not too bad. I used to get 45 idle and 70-75 load (Celcius) with the stock cooler. I put on ati silencer 4 with arcitc silver 5 and now I get around 30 idle and 47 load. So I am hoping to get a good overclock.
