I'm hoping that the reason for the very very late date is because ATi is choosing to fulfill vendor/distributor orders first before they fill their own. Makes sense to me.

Get it from somewhere else than ATI's store. Obviously a few hundred of them got out the door already because I bought one.
man did these guys foul up. People are not going to wait when one of the hottest video games is coming out in 2 weeks, when they had their hearts set on an XT, not a Pro.
I canceled an order because of the whole compusa sale tarts selling out pre-orders. The 6800GT OC'd to 420/1150 will likely handle Doom 3 well. You see people each day canceling because of impatience. However, I would still buy the card today if it was avail.

I can't help but think it was a paper launch. We all know R300 core is over 2 yrs old. It was quite surprising to see, to begin with, they just added more pipes and bumped the clock speed up on the 9700Pro and called it "X800XT-PE"
Obviously, they hit the ceiling and are not able to yield seizable amount of chips - yeah we're talking about factory-overclock. I mean, come on, same core for 3 years? No wonder they can't produce the chips that qualify for the XT specs. By the time they're available - Oct 15, 2004, ugh - ATI will probably launch the next-gen GPUs. (Of course on paper)
