X800 xl vs 6800GT

According to those benchmarks tests http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2466&p=1
the ati x800 xl performs at about the same level as a 6800 GT when it comes to battlefield 2 (my main reason for getting a new video card, but I will also paly some counter strike source too) however the price difference between the two is huge.

Right now I can get on special the ATI X800 xl from futureshop for 349$ can (real price, no mail in rebate crap http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...665000FS10059866&catid=10524&logon=&langid=EN ) but a decent 6800 GT is around 550$ can and that is after looking in various different places. Is there something that could justify the 200$ price difference or should I simply go and buy the ATI card?

the 6800 is teh winna until you crank the AA/AF up, then the 800 pulls away in most games.

It's not much of a difference though. I have a X 800 Xl and I can tell you it plays Bf 2 real fine.
Are U in CA? I got my card for 299 and there's a better deal than that at Monarch Computers, but I didnt feel like waiting, so I paid. Its a great card.

I'd certainly presume so. The cheapest x800xl that I can find for one is $366 from NCIX.com.

ark1 is in Canada - newegg isn't exactly accessable to us Canuks.

Why do these two video cards always get put head to head? It's certainly interesting.

WEll, to give you some price perspective, the cheapest X800XL that I have found is $260USD on www.monarchcomputer.com

I would shop around for the lowest 6800GT price you can find.

I have both, don't notice any significant differences(well, other than one is pci-e and the other agp... which is why I have both).

I've been playing bf2 and cs:s almost exclusively on the ati, just because of which rig it is in. I had to play around with the bf2 settings a bit to get it exactly the way I wanted it---without any noticeable texture issues.
