I have a RADEON X800 XL 256 AGP video card and i want to use it on my HDTV well i need to purchase a HDTV Output Cable now what im not sure is if this thing takes a 7PIN setup or a 9PIN setup. If anyone has any idea please i could use some help ASAP! Thanks .

Unless the XL specifically says it supports HDTV on the box or on a web site, then it doesn't, so you may not even be able to use HDTV with it.

the x800xl should come with a cable that has YPbPr (red, green, & blue component RCA) connectors, so if your TV has that type of connection on it (it should if it's an HDTV-ready TV), then all you should have to do is plug it up and set your resolution.

if you look at any x800xl on newegg, you'll see it comes with the YPbPr connector cable, which is used for HD.....

The X800XL should come with a cable for the YPbPr outputs.

I however couldn't get it to work correctly (I could only view the monitor or the TV, not both at the same time), so I made my own cable for use to go straight from VGA to RGBHV inputs on my TV. This worked excellent after I used Powerstrip to adjust the timings and overscan.

Yea i know it has HDTV capabilities but i recived the card as a demo to test all i recived were the drivers and that was it . i know it can hook to my TV i just needed to know the PIN setup if it is 7 or 9 because some cards have different setups ..... i dont know but i counted 9 pin slots on the video port i dont know if that means its 9 pins or what ...

it's a 7-pin connector. I'll have a diagram up for you in a minute.

here it is (check out my uber l337 paint skillz :p ). very simple connector.
the colors are the + connections (center post), the black are all ground (outter shells).

100% sure the x800 supports hdtv.

With nothing but the ati drivers I use a DVI to HDMI cable tho.

what red X? I see a picture...with a red dot...but no red "X". You must've checked the thread as I was fixing the link when I posted :p (yeah, I'm not denying the red X...I got it when I first posted :p)

K-LINE-101 - If you look at your connector, the 3 pins across the bottom are the Top 3 in my pic. Flip your card over and the top row and middle row should line up...the bottom row isn't used with the ATI HDTV cable that comes in the retail X800xl.

:EDIT: Nevermind...I just checked the back of my x800xl and the connector on it looks the same as in my pic I made. Not sure what you have there. Have you taken the HSF off to check the core? You say you got it as a "demo" card, maybe has VIVO?? from the looks of the back of your card, is that large chip the rage theatre chip? If so, then I think that top row of two pins would be for VIVO maybe? Otherwise, the rest of the connector looks identical to mine. (yeah, they're the same...except...different... :p ) I need sleep...

This is all the information that i could find on this card and i cant seem to find anything about vivo .... so maby this might help you out a little !

Well, I'm not the expert...but I'm pretty sure that since you have the rage theatre chip, then your card is a VIVO or AIW type. Which could explain why there are more pins on your connector than on a standard X800XL.

Many (if not all) of the X800XL AIW cards were actually downclocked X800XT's under the HSF.

Maybe someone with an X800XL VIVO or AIW could prove more useful for information.

That's the issue right there, it's a VIVO/AIW, what you need to do is buy the accessories for that card from ATI. ATI has a special connector that goes from the AIW/VIVO cards I think, it isn't any standard connector.
