Ok, I've been an ATI fan, but have been out of the game for a while. What type of performance hit am I going to take going from a X800 XT to a XL or pro or GTO?

Is there only a marginal performance hit for going down from the XT or XT PE lines?

Thanks,

Jake

Yeah its pretty small and incremental at each stage. You're either taking about reduced clockspeeds or reduced pipelines but the core architecture is the same across the boards.

xl=same as xt just clocked lower
pro=lesser pipelines
GTO=ussually way less pipelines and ramped up clocks(also some are unlockable to XT pipes and speeds)

No. Well, the XL is different from the XT. XL is based on a newer core (110nm) and is 16 pipelines, yes, though the old XT still beats it. Right about the GTO anyway.
