I've searched the forums for this topic to see if there are any threads about the problem I am having and couldn't find any so I apologise if I'm bringing up an old topic thats been posted before.

Just recently my brother upgraded his video card to an Xpert vision radeon x800 256mb from some crappy $50 geforce card , he is running a system on a AMD 64/FX64 K8 Triton series - nForce3 Motherboard made by Gigabyte technologies.

What the problems is; after installing the latest omega driver's for ATI cards he booted up counter strike source after several minutes playing the game crashed and hangs the entire system (an error message comes up by I don't know what relevance it has it jsut seems like a generic message). He tried several other games that all use the source engine and the same problem occurs and he also tells me several other games seem to be playing up. ( im not sure though if they are related or he is just been padantic )

Another thing that strikes me is that a friend of mine has a x800 pro and is running a AMD 64 system on an nForce motherboard and he also has problems with games related to the valve source engine, so i think they may be suffering the same problem.

So is there any place I can be directed to to rectify the problem, or if you could offer your advice and help me fix the crashing, or if any one else has experienced the same problems as I have any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Clueless

No problems with any Source games on my x800xt... but I only use the ATI drivers, not the Omega. Maybe you should try uninstalling them an using the official drivers?

You can check the steam forums for other users with problems:

I'm running an x800pro and have no problems at all.

Did he completely remove and reinstall his drivers? Update everything on his computer?

Again, I have zero problems on my machine.

(Building my new beast tonite with an X1900XT however :D )
