x800 problem.

I have xp2400+, 1024 RAM and just bought powercolor x800 pro. Before i had gf2 pro, but after i've bought x800, i don't even have 99 fps in cs. Looks like i even had better performance with my old gf2 pro card, at least in cs. Anyone that can help me?
Or is there something wrong with other parts of my computer? I need serious help.
And what i've heard i should have at least constant 99fps even though i have only a 2400+.

It doesnt go that great in other games as well, but that might be because of my cpu or? Anyone?
 
at what res are you playing, you might be cpu limited, did you cleaned the nv drivers did you use drive cleaner?

is it a vivo?

what fps did you have before?
 
Yeah its a vivo.. i formatted c: when inserted the new ati card.. and i'm playing in 640 res.. so its really weird.. before i had 99-about 80 fps.. with gf2 pro.. but with this x800 i should have 99 .. now i have 99-70 even 65 when it gets really rough.. And cpu limited?

you are cpu limited at that res
 
so i solve that by getting my self a new cpu or what? or is it possible with that 2400+ i have? Cause what i've heard i should be able to have really good fps still with that cpu, because of the gfx card..
And you said that the res is cpu limited, should i then change res or the above..?
 
Install the latest ATi Drivers, the 4.8's or 4.9's. Make sure you turn off Tru-form! This thing kills my X800Pro with 16 pipes. Turn off tru-form. I think that is your problem honestly. Go to open GL settings, and turn that sucker off. Nothing in your comp is a bottleneck for Counter-Strike.
I have a similar setup with half the ram and an overclocked 2500+ and the only thing that makes CS run that slow is...Tru-Form.

Oh yeah, now that you got a bomb video card, at least use 800x600! You should be able to run 6xAA and 16xAF in CS at 99 fps easily.
 
You should raise your resolution past 640x480 for god's sake. That resolution is CPU limiting. Your processor is doing all the work. Most video cards will be the same at that res with that game. Secondly what's the point of having an X800Pro or any high end card if your going to run anything at that resolution? It's a waste of money.

What we mean by CPU limited is just that. At that resolution your CPU does most of the work. Graphics cards don't start to really take over until 1024x768. So until you go beyond that your CPU is going to do most of the work. Which means your limited by your CPU. So at such resolutions a system with 2.4GHz chip won't perform as well as a machine equipped with a 3.0GHz chip. Even if all other components are the same.

However a system equipped with an X800Pro can potentially have a weaker processor and be faster and play at higher resolutions than a system equipped with a Radeon 9600XT. Video card memory has no effect on this. So a 256MB Radeon 9800Pro still can't match an X800Pro with 128MB of ram even if such a card existed. (They don't)

I hope that clears that up a bit.
 
thanks by explaining that. And i use higher than 640 in other games.. just not in cs 1.6. but i will change it now, and install the newest drivers etc, and check if it works better then, even though i have tried it, but i will test the res thing.
