X800 Pro vs. 6800 GT

This isnt really a fair comparison (unless you are talking about AGP)

Saphire X800Pro AIWs have had a 99% sucess rate fo unlocking.

X800XL vs 680GT is a good comparison

oh god, i can see this turning into a 6800gt vs x800pro thread allready...

ONLY the x800pro vivo is flashable to an x800xtpe, it only involves a bios flash. but a 6800gt can overclock to ultra speeds.

id get the 6800gt. from the looks of it ati has lost this round to nvidia.

an X800Pro flashed to XT-PE speeds will be (technicaly) the faster card.

I would get an X800XL

or wait for the R520

yes.

still a good card anyways. Plus tends to be cheaper

bah, for AGP I would go for a 6800G, just not from newegg, there are much cheaper retailers around

He is half right half wrong.
Nvidia owned the midrange for half this generation of cards and ATis X800XL's will this half of the current generation.
In reality Nvidia ruled for 65% of the time and XTI 35% of the time.

6800GT or wait for the r520.

Why?
-Unlocking the x800pro VIVO has a bigger chance of error than a simple overclock of 50mhz core and 100mhz memory on the GT to get it to Ultra.

The x800XL is a good deal too, especially if you can get one for $299. I would definitely consider that also. x800XL vs 6800GT is basically like Chev vs Ford, the cards are pretty much neck and neck, it's just personal preference. However, the 6800GT is arguably more overclockable than an x800XL. And an Ultra would probably beat an x800XL in most benchmarks.
