X800 pro ram cooling

I recently purchased a powercolor x800 pro after my 9800 pro died.... i used to watercool that with a maze4 from dangerden. my question is can i remove the stock cooler from the x800pro and wc it and not worry about the memory?

you'll probably be ok as long as you have some airflow over your memory.
 
or you could just be safe and spend <$20 and get some ramsinks...no biggie

but, you SHOULD be okay, but i'd be careful
