x800 pro power plug problem

power is plugged in but i get "power cable not plugged in" thing. any thoughts?
 
Wiggle it around a little, or jam it in hard, if nothing else. Check the plug and make sure it's good. If nothign still, i'd RMA the card.

exactly my thoughts
 
Remove the splitter if you are using it, and connect direct to your psu if you can. My 9800pro did the same thing apparently the splitter was bad.
 
Had the same problem,,,I upgraded my power supply and presto....What kind of power supppy do you have?
 
Ive been using my sapphire radeon 9800 Pro 128ram flashed to XT with a pretty high OC on it (440/390) for about 3-4 months before I got the "power plug disconnected" message recently. Tried wiggling the plug and found it super hot. The rest of the board and ram sinks werent to bad, just warm, but the plastic power plug was too hot to touch. This is just on the board side of the plug. The PSU side stays a fair bit cooler. It will run fine, getting hotter as it goes, till I need to reboot and then I will have to let it cool for about 10 min before rebooting will work without the disconnected message. I tried running it back at stock speeds to see if the OC was causing the heat but it made no diff. I had been running it with my case side panel off and when I put it back on the side panel fan is pointed right at the plug area and it keeps it cool enough so reboots seem to have a 50/50 chance of suceeding without needing to wait for it to cool.

Its not a really big deal as it still works fine untill a reboot is needed but annoying when installing, reformating etc.

P.S. PSU is a Raidmax 420W
