X800 Pro or X800xt?

Which one should I get, Im just wondering if I should save the money and get a pro and OC it, or if I should just get the XT.

No offence, but that's a stupid fucking answer and does not help the orinal poster in any way.

My answer would be, depends on your budget. If you can afford it go for the XT.

If price is a concern, most people agree that the 6800GT is a better buy than the Pro. I'm very happy with my pro, though, it overclocks a great deal (570/580), so it's as least as fast as a standard XT. But the XT can overclock, too....

It all boils down to your budget.
 
Go for the X850's the AGP varients are coming out soon and they are faster and cheaper than their X800 counter parts.
 
Agreed with above post.

If you dont want to wait, I would get an XT, and OC it alot more.

But ya, wait for the X850XT lineup, I hear they will be alot more available (They actually are, here in canada, and for as much/cheaper then the X800XTs) they are what Nvidias actual X8** lineup was supposed to be, The X800 was probably just so the public didnt have to wait for the X850s
 
Thanks for the replies! Ill go ahead and wait for the X850's to come out for AGP. I almost bought the X800XT the other day but, I ended up buying a home theatre surround sound setup for my game room Im building :)
 
Why don't you get the x800pro?? It looks like a good one. It will run doom 3 at high detail 1024x768 at 62 fps. You really don't need anymore than that.

1024x768? Are you insane? The last time I ran a game at that low res was when I was trying to get my 6800UEE to deliever playable FPS while using SM3.0 in Riddick.............it couldn't BTW.

Just wait for the X850s to hit AGP next month.
 
i'd go for the X800 XT... they can be found for $450~ shipped while X850 are at least $50 more and not much faster than the XTs... just my $0.02

No, I'm not insane. Maybe you are. 1024x768 is high res to most of us.

Believing that 1024x768 is high res, and it actually being high res are two different things. It is in fact, low res. Buying an X800/6800 to play at 1024x768 is like going to a gunfight with a pocketknife. Stupid.
 
I don't think so. I was playing doom 3 at 1024x768 with my geforce 6600gt and it looked great. To me, 640x480 is low res, 800x600 medium, and 1024x768 is high res. 1600x1200 is ultra high. 1024x768 looks great to me. I guess it's just a matter of opinion.
 
lol.. you must have been gaming for a while like me. Or just think almost like me. I've considered 1024x768 to be a good medium resolution. Games look pretty good there and give great performance. 1280x1024/960 and beyond I consider high resolutions. 800x600 and below are pretty low.
 
im pretty sure i speak for 95+% of [h]'ers when i say:

1024x768 = standard gaming res (basically the minimum i'll run)
1280x960/1280x1024 = native resolution (what i play most games in)
1600x1200 = high resolution (only good for some games) (or native if you have a real big monitor)

Also, to answer the original poster's question, Id wait for R520 to come out (may/june?), and for X800XT/X850XT prices to drop a decent amount ($50-100), or go for a 6800gt.

I'll agree with this. Good comments, doesn't come off like an ass like another poster i've been seeing around here lately. I don't know about the waiting though, if you want the gaming perfomance now and don't want to spend the money, the 6800GT would do you just fine, otherwise go for the x800xt. ATI has been having problems getting these cards out lately and if you can find anything for cheap go for it. I wouldn't wait for the x850 to come out because you could be in for a long wait. Just my thoughts.

Yeah I have been gaming a long time. lol. I still remember playing ancient art of war on my IBM PC AT with a CGA graphics card!!! lol.
 
I have an X800XT and it runs every game I play fine.
TO give you an idea here are some of the games I play, DOOM3, HL2, Far Cry, BF1942, Star Wars Battle Front, and last of all Rainbow Six Three Raven Shield.
 
I have been able to play doom 3 at 1280x1024/high quality settings/4x AA/and all options except vertical sync set to high. I get over 40fps, and the game is easily playable at that those frame rates on my X800PRO and looks great while doing it.

But IMO ATI doesn't deserve any consideration or loyalty at this time because of the games they are playing with their customers. I wouldn't hold my breath for any other high performance AGP models the way they've been reniging on their promises. My recommendation would still be X800XT if you can swing it, but don't empty your bank account to get one, ATI isn't worth the sacrifice. If you can find a better deal on NVidia 6800GT, grab one,
