Im an EXTREME nub at overclocking anything. I got radlink from another OC'r and we had it up pretty high , but then my monitor just shut off and that was that. What is the highest..safest OC on a stock x800 pro?

As with any overclock, it varies from unit to unit.

The safest speed you can get your card to, is the safest speed YOU can get YOUR card to.
Just go slow and safe.

no oc at all.

The x800pros are over clocking very well, i have mine at 570/610 from teh stock 475/450, and this is with stock cooling.
Now if you really wanna go crazy, find an x800 with VIVO and you can flash it to the XT version, with 16 pipelines :)

I don't even think i have Vivo =[

What would you reccomend trying from the stock speeds?

I would recommend using ATI tool, and tell it to find both your cards max memory and max core, and use whatever it recommends, i also recommend using the new beta 4.7 cats, theyll also squeeze out some more performance

Definently, newer cards have GPU recover, if some were to happen the GPU would reset itself, and point of using the find max memory/core feature is to find and test your card and find a safe and stable overclock

Alright set your card to 540/550, use the scan for artifacts feature, if everything is alright boost both up by 5, and do this until you start seeing artifacts, once you find your max, decrease your memory and core settings by about 10mhz, and thats what i would recommend you keep it at, maybe consider upgrading the cooling as well, to squeeze a couple more mhz out of it.

Well i got to 11972 with 496/479 with no artifacts. After that it screws up pretty good....

ouch that's not much of an overclock. But almost 12k is pretty high for that. at 540/500 or so I get 10.6k with mine. I tried 580/500 but that just wouldn't go.. lol I could probably hit 550-560 safely for the core. Haven't really tested the memory out too much though. Memory scares me :( lol j/k. I want an athlon 64 3000 and o/c the shit out of it. Anyone know any good motherboards to get taht are Pci/agp locked? :D

Man..i think im gunna overclock my processor today..

I've got a A64 3200+ with AOpen AK86-L Mobo and Micron 512mb pc3200.

the best I can do without lockups or reboots is 510/520... not bad from stock.
