X800 Overdrive Questions???

I dont think the X800 Pro supports it. I thought only the Xt's did, but I've seen that some peeps that mod their pros to xt's have the overdrive function enabled. you could always flash your bios to the X800Xt's and see if that enables it.
 
I haven't modded as of yet but the overdrive option is there and works I guess. I see it increased my speeds a little. It somehow is related to temp of card. I haven't got much info on how it works, that's why I posted.

ATI's Overdrive FAQ

Overdrive overclocks your GPU dynamically based on core temperature. Only GPUs with the temp chip can use it. My X800 Pro works fine with it. The temperature chip originally was only on XT cards.

Overdrive does not overclock memory or overclock extensively. You should see a small speed improvement when using it. If you are using stock cooling, the overclock under full load will be minimal.

Go ahead and turn it on. If you are serious about overclocking, use ATI Tool . For serious overclocking, you will likely want aftermarket cooling, probably water.

Thanks for that info. It sounds like a safe little tool
considering it monitors the temp as well. I have it turned
on for now and will monitor it's use.

I just bought a Radeon X800Pro today, and Overdrive is supported with it (Cat 4.6). I would use AtiTool as the above posts mention for serious overclocking.


I can't believe how much this new card destroys my old 9800pro!

hmmm, i have a x800pro, but can't get the tab to show, i've tried reinstalling but still can't get it to work. any ideas anyone?

edit: got it working by enabling ATIHotkey Poller
 
I think it's still a bit borked for those cards. Use AtiTool and Radlinker 1010 when ChrisW releases it. I disable the ATI key poller service which will in turn disable overdrive.

im getting one soon and i want to check up on it

Excellent questions. So far I've tried 2 times using ATI tool to find the FIND MAX CORE....after 10 mins its at 558+ Core and still climbing with zero artifacts listed!

Sounds great but I'm worried that I'm gonna fry the card if I let AtiTool keep going (mainly because most people I've seen on forums aren't getting their X800Pro cores that high so perhaps something is wrong with AtiTool and my card?).

It's a retail ATI Radeon X800Pro.

Catalyst 4.5's don't support it with the X800 series. Install 4.6's and you will get the tab.

Yup the stock is 475 Core and 450 Memory.

I took your advice and ran Max Core and Max Memory test for several hours. It ended up with:

564 Core and 519 Memory with zero artifacts. :)

I'm very happy with the core result but a little disappointed with the memory overclock. Then again the samsung memory ATI uses is only rated to 500mhz on paper, so theres no shame in that.

I think I'm going to rip off the stock HS though and put on something better (or at least slap some AS5 on it for now) as the temps get pretty hot with this card (up to 74c) doing full artifacts tests, etc.

Is there just screws holding on the X800 Pro Heatsink or is it bonded with something?

just screws, and the VGA silencer REV.3 fits fine
