x800 only 8k in 3dmark03

is my system bottlenecking sumwhere? cause its really bugging me. i have Kingston hyper x pc-4000 its at 1:1 and the timings are 3-4-4-8. is they anything i can do? cause i know the x800pro supose to get 10k in 3dmarks03

I would think it is your processor, since the 3000+s don't fully utilize the x800's power, and even with the overclock you don't have all that much cache.

the X800 Pro doesn't get 10k at stock. 8-9k would be pretty normal.

yes the mobo is a nforce2 and i have all the latest drivers for it.

and for games it runs pretty damn nice at MAx settings

Yes. Every nf2 mobo i have tried got better results with that setting at 11. Albeit, it wasn't much more, but it was there. Maybe 50-100 points in 3dmark01.

Make sure you have cats 4.6 as there is a good boost in 3Dmark with those.

I got somewhere at 8300 with the X800 Pro using cd drivers, then with 4.6 it was 8900.

After clocking it to 540/570, I get 10395.

What's this thing about setting a timing to 11 on NF2 boards?

I just cut it there to be safe. I ran 3Dmark once at 560/560 and nothing went wrong. The way my card is going I don't see 560/580 being a problem. I stopped ATI Tool while it was searching for max core once it was going past 564, even if it could go further, without some better cooling I just don't want to stress it too much. And the benfit starts to be less as you go further.

what catalyst drivers are you using? 4.6 gives a huge boost in performance, i break 12,000+ points OCed

I get 10,647 with comp in sig with the x800 pro at 540/1ghz with the 4.7 beta cats. Not the highest it goes either. Stock is like 8500 for the x800. Yours sounds about right though. I'm on a t-bred too 2600+. 4.7 betas suck right now. Wait for the final release. I had a lot of problems, like glitches and stuff with them (not with 3dmark and some games, just desktop bugs adn what not). Back on 4.5's which don't give me overdrive. I got about 9k stock on a Pentium 4 3.0C. After OC'ing the video card and the CPU as shown in the sig, I get about 13k.

The key here is dependent upon your fsb setting.

fsb < 200 - set to 9
fsb = 200 - set to 10
fsb > 200 - set to 11

Yeah, the Ram is also holding you back.

Really you don't want PC4000. A lot of times the timings are not adjustable (you might be stuck at 3-4-4-8). A better and cheaper choice might have been a 2-2-3-6 (or lower) PC3200 and overclock it.

cause i had a intel setup and i didn't have enough money to buy pc-3200 ram. thats why there's pc-4000 in my setup right now. but later on im getting a 1gb of pc-3200
