Anyone spotted any m-ATX X79 motherboards in the wild? Seems like the only natural step up for someone with a X58 Gene or equivalent. I've personally not seen anything yet :D

MSI shows its micro ATX X79 motherboard

Looks pretty standard. I hope it is a better overclocker than their X58M.

i HATE how the ram slots are on both sides of the cpu. this could be a major issue for HSF..even for Corsair H series water coolers could be troublesome. the damn hoses on those coolers have limited range.

Now if they release something in mITX I'll be golden.

Sounds unlikely but who knows.

I would be incredibly impressed if they could figure out how to put 4 ram slots, a pcie slot, and that huge socket all on an ITX board. I think M-atx is all you will get. I would love to get one of these but there is no way I am paying a lot for an unlocked CPU.

Confused, I thought the X58M was at least as good as the RIIG.

I've been wondering when I'd see the matx X79 boards. I don't know if want to move from my RIIG/E5645 setup anytime soon, but if they're available, I likely won't be able to resist for long...

I've read that and other reviews. I've also used two MSI X58M and any number of other MSI X58 motherboards (Pro-E, Platinum SLI, Eclipse SLI). Didn't really try with the Pro-E, but none of the other ones ever overclocked as well or with as low voltage as in the reviews. NONE! I've used a few other brands (Gigabyte, Asus, EVGA, DFI) and they all overclocked better, regardless of whether ATX or mATX, or which CPU/RAM I used.

*SHRUG* those were just my experiences.

The 22 nm process will allow to integrate some basic IO hubs into the CPU package thus eliminating southbridge. Is USB 3 going to be integrated? I dont remember if it is going to be with Ivy Bridge or Haswell but if there was ITX board available it would be low end media board rather than X79.
