x700 vs. 6600

The x700 and 6600 are both in my price range and i need a new PCI-E 16x card for my new computer. Im leaning toward the x700 because i am finding alot more of them with 256mb RAM. Let me know what you guys think of them both though.
 
are you talking x700, or the 700 pro? and the 6600, or the 6600gt? Whats your price range?

Are you using it for gaming?
 
In either instance the 6600 or 6600GT wins in the benchmarks against their equivalent X700 competition. In addition, the 6600GT will be capable of being used in an SLI configuration if used on a motherboard that supports SLI capabilities.

ATI has stated that the X800 and X850 will work in an AMR setup, but the X700 has not been mentioned.

Based on the feature set and performance, at the mid-level range you'll be best served with a 6600GT. In fact a 6600GT overclocked will match the performance of a 6800NU.

exactly what i would of said.... but i wanted to make sure of its uses 1st. Maybe he wasn't going to be gaming at all, maybe he was cash strapped.... i wanted to see what he wanted it for 1st, before i go recommending the 6600 gt.
 
256 mb of vram on a card like the x700 is pretty much made just to make a selling point. It doesn't really do much for the card. But hey... it almost worked since you were leaning towards a 256 mb x700. In any case... tell us your price range. Maybe you can bump it up slightly for a 6800 nu. But if you can't... the 6600/6600 gt is better than x700/x700 pro
 
i ended up going with the x800 because i read up on the x700 and found it didnt meet my needs. i posted this before i had the time to research the product.
 
The Recent [H]ardOCP review of the Bravo PowerColour X700pro shows it beating the 6600GT in almost every benchmark....
So now I dont even know which card to recomend.

That was x700 vs. 6600 not pro vs. gt.
 
Got cha, ok I was just wondering since I though it was a X700pro beating a 6600GT.
Which would be very very odd.
