X700 pro OR 6600 GT

[geoffpurdy]

My friend is building a pc, and we're not sure whether it would be better to get a X700 pro 256mb or a 6600GT 128mb, anyone know which performs better? He mostly plays WoW, so thats what it would be used for mostly besides occasionaly CS:S. They are basically exactly the same price.

EDIT: Yeah, sorry, there's a thread just like this.
I'll just crawl off into some corner and die now.

I've had both. The 6600GT is faster in virtually everything, sometimes by a wide margin.

And the 6600GT is cheaper

Actually they are both relatively the same.

For the love of god can someone make a sticky for this shit... It's getting ridiculous how many people post about the 6600gt and whether it is better than a X700 or which 6600gt is best...

[Kaiga]

6600GT is cheaper and it has Shader 3.0.

why x700 pro vs 6600 gt when the x700xt is faster then both and the same price?

There is no x700XT. It was just made for reviews and was never an available product. Notice that not even ATI lists it as a product on the x700 page and no other manufacturers offer one either. http://www.ati.com/products/radeonx700/radeonx700series/index.html

Same exact experience here.
