I just got an X700 Pro, 256Mb card in yesterday and installed said card into my rig. The card works great... after I had to adjust the BIOS settings, except for whenever an enemy casts a powerful spell. Let me explain:
I was doing a dungeon crawl, awed by the superior graphics as compared to my onld 9600 SE, when I ran into a wraith. It cast a spell that drains three abilities and either does cold damage or lowers your resistance to cold. Anyway, the instant the wraith started casting that spell my FPS dropped to about, oh, 1 FPS. It sucked bigtime.
I am running Oblivion with its default "Medium" settings, except for one difference: I'm running 2 part AA. I did turn off AA and that did clear up this error. I'm just wondering if there's anything else I can do, because I would really like to have AA on.
I did have to adjust the BIOS settings to make the card work properly with my system. All I did was ensure that my AGP was set to 4x and I adjusted the RAM setting to 256Mb.
Specs:
P4 2.4 Ghz
VIA Motherboard
1 Gb PC 2700 RAM
ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256Mb
Any suggestions?
