x700 AGP ?!?!?

but whats different than the PCI-E counterpart? One thing I noticed

So if we go by stock speeds alone, its actually a x700 pci-e crippled?

This looks to be a very new card, as if you google for x700 agp, you will get no english results, so my question is, since ati and nvidia have done this in the past, is this perhaps just a crippled card?

It runs the ruby demo like a champ... I don't know else how to get any results, so if you want to help me test this badboy, please give any info or ideas.
 
I don't remember what the clocks are supposed to be, but my PCI-Express X700Pro had a memory bus of 128bit. The 6600GT AGP and PCI-Express cards are also 128bit. Its one differentiating feature to keep it a "mid range" card rather than being anywhere near the performance of higher end cards.

I am not sure on the core/mem clocks other than the last value would be a real clock speed rather than a DDR "effective" clock. So the effective DDR clock would be around 860MHz or so. That's a little low for what I remember but not a huge margin.
 
I think ATI's a little "too little too late" in the battle for mid range AGP cards....

I have no idea what they were thinking not to release AGP versions of it's
cards when Nvidia was releasing the 6x00 line in both PCI-E and AGP.

at this point i'm just wanting to know if they are labling x800's as x700's

This is true. ATi's lineup of AGP cards is stagnant in the mid range on down. nVidia has all new parts to replace last gen's cards. The 6200 replaced the 5200 (badly needed replacement I might add) and the 6600's replace the 5700's and the 6800's replaced the 5900's. Not to mention until the release of the 7800GTX they've had all their cards in both AGP and PCI-Express. ATi's had availability issues with one or the other and had no competetive products at many of the price points.

ATi just needs to get its shit together.
 
ATI does have an x700PRO in agp, however, the cost is way to high (like 180) which is a total waste of $$$ compared to the 6600GT.

Seriously, if ATI started pumping out x700's at 110 like they do the PCI express ones, i bet more people would buy the x700pro instead of the 6600GT, because of the $40 price difference

EDIT: well, the low range AGP's i suppose are being taken by the 9800pro, as prices on those are quite low online, in the store it's another story though

Yup i think they are, and you can unlock the x700 to x800 speeds with coolbits or rivatuner...

I've yet to ever see an X700Pro in AGP. To my knowledge the card doesn't exist. The PCI-Express 128MB card is agressively priced, but the retail cards are 256MB and cost $199.99. Their performance is lacking compared to the 6600GT's though.

Your right on the price. If the costs were significantly lower than the 6600GT it might compete due to price point. It surely doesn't when it comes to performance.

I saw a x700pro 256mb AGP at Best Buy last weekend. They do exist.
