x600 Pro vs 9700 Pro

Okay, just wondering the performance difference between an x600 Pro PCI-Express and a 9700 Pro AGP. I'm building a new system for a friend and just wondering the differences. We want to go with a newer PCI-Express motherboard, but the only option he can consider is the x600 Pro. Or, if he goes to an AGP board, the 9700 Pro is the option. So, since I can't find a site comparing the two directly.
 
Well, if I remember correctly, the x600 is based off the 9600 series cards. So if that holds true, then the 9700 pro is clearly faster.

That's right. The x600 Pro (RV370) is just a PCI-E version of the 9600 Pro.
 
9700's definately a better card. In the same price range, you can probably find a 6600, which would be comparable to the 9700, if you find yourself drawn to a PCIe board.
