i recently had to up my southbridge voltage to 1.14 in order to get source engine games to work properly. i was getting some weird behavior where my keyboard (USB) would intermittently lockup, then sound would start to stutter, then my internet connection would go out. since all of those things are in the southbridge, i upped the voltage and all is well.

my question is, has anyone had to up their southbridge voltage for their overclock to be stable? if so, how much? and also, what is the highest southbridge voltage that you would consider safe?

Yeah, with my current rig I've recently resolved some minor instabilities by upping the southbridge and PCIexpress sata voltage.

It has also helped stopped my stupid new Behemoth mouse from sometimes being dead on cold boot leading me to have to unplug and replug it to get windows to work with it again.

I'm surprised I'd need to even touch the SB voltage because I wouldn't thought it would need any additional power.

However, I know for a fact that my PSU is insufficient for my rig. It never crashes during any real usage, but the PSU test found in the OCCT test suite will make my PSU shut off instantly after 30 seconds to a minute.

OP: Try running the PSU test in OCCT and see if your psu shuts down or PC crashes. I suspect that all cases where upping the southbridge helps is due to a weak PSU. Just a theory though. ;)
