It looks badass. I already own Sins of a Solar empire.
Is it pretty much like that game?

No, it's not really like Sins at all. X3 is a space flight sim with trading, dog fighting etc.

X3: Reunion was pretty damn good. Terran conflict is supposed to be like that but with more features, more refined etc. I havent had a chance to play it yet, but it should be pretty damn good if you're into things like Freelancer and the old game Elite. It's not as simplistic as Freelancer though. X3 has a lot more depth

I don't know why you would think it would be like Sins. It's a completely different game that is about 100x as complicated, It's not an RTS, it's a space sim mixed with privateer and economic empire building.

IMHO, it also offers about 100 times more gameplay than Sins ever could. I stopped playing Sins after 2 months. I am still on my X3: Reunion game from 2 years ago.
 
If you are bored with SoaSE you should try out some of mods out for it. Plus, there is the 1.11 patch and the Entrenchment expansion coming out shortly.

Now, I have not played X3:TC myself...yet. But those that I know who have like it very much.
 
I've played X3: Reunion for some time now and have loved every second of it. I've got X3: TC still sealed sitting on a shelf waiting to be played. I've got a few more games I need to wrap up first though.
 
Which one, Monkey? X3: Reunion definitely had problems when it was first released. The patches fixed it up quite well.
 
If you are into Simulations, this is probably the most robust evolution of Space Simulations available in recent years.

Yeah, I couldn't play it until the patch removed the copy protection. I bought a game for full price and couldn't play it till several months later when I could have gotten it for half that. Wasn't pleased...so, I learned my lesson and will wait until they release the patch that removes that crap before I buy it. I sohuld fire that up again, It got lost in the shuffle with my numerous rebuilds and raid problems...I was just starting to get into it too.
 
I just got X3: Terran Conflict and I know this is a dumb question, but I'm having a hell of a time finding stations. To be specific, the quantum tub fab in Argon prime. Is there a table of coordinates for all stations or a mod to show all stations on the map? Also, how do most people use the map? with x and y axis showing or with x and z showing?
 
I bought this the other day and started playing it. I lost track of what time it was and forgot to go to sleep last night <.< lol.

Ive been looking for a game like this forever. A lot like freelancer, but more open ended.Its exactly what I've been looking for, Ive been after a game like this for years. I went back on steam and bought all of the X games I saw, this is gonna be fun =D
 
Also, Darkstar One is really cheap on Steam. It's a Freelancer type game, but probably a LOT less complicated than the X games. I haven't played any of those games though... been thinking of giving them a try.. but I just got Darkstar, lol....

Damn Steam has me wanting to buy too many games.

Edit: Anybody know the differences between X3: The threat and X3: Terran Conflict? If it's not huge, I might buy the X2/X3 package instead and be able to play X2 on my netbook :p

X2 The Threat is from 2004. The graphics are not pretty - the bonus is that you have cockpit models.

X3: Reunion and X3: Terran Conflict are the games in the package aren't they?

There is package for X2 and X3 Reunion for like $12.50, and the other X3 package of those two games for $20 something.
