The X2Gen 22" monitor has both DVI-I and VGA _connectors_. (DVI-I is capable of relaying BOTH digital and analog signals.) However, if a DVI-I cable is used, only the analog signal will pass via the DVI port. Have not tested this, but it logically has to be because...

I HAVE tested two strictly digital DVI-D cables with that monitor, and it does not recognize that a digital signal is present. Other monitors do. I have yet to see a report verifying that the MW22U works with a DVI-D cable..

This confusion is perhaps the result of imprecise specs from X2Gen, and may account for the Costco.com recent deal, and its claim that the monitor has both VGA and DVI inputs.

On the X2Gen "specifications" page, only VGA input is mentioned...

Yet in their linked PDF dcoument, both analog and digital are listed...

In reality, the DVI connector appears to be nothing more than an alternative analog input.

Yet it is conceivable that the video card/driver is the culprit...

Another 22" monitor IS working with the card, in both digital and analog modes, at the native 1680X1050 resolution. But that took some doing, and for a while the monitor would not function in the digital mode.
Just perhaps, the X2gen balked in a similar fashion, owning to a marginal signal from the card. Benefit of the doubt...

And, in fairness, the X2Gen VGA-fed display was satisfactory (no games tested). I spotted a stuck pixel or two, but that is within spec. The power supply is a separate (and warm) brick module. A 128Mb MSI card handled 1680X1050 in Vista, analog mode, with full Aero capability.

I'm staring at the MW22U right now, running at 1680x1050. Fed by a fully digital signal through a 15' single link DVI cable with no ghosting and no signal loss.

I would like to get some more specific drivers for it so the colors could be more finely tuned.

The base is a little shaky--any suggestions for rotating swing arms for <$50?
