x2 venice ?

one is an x2 other is a regular single core........why would you get screwed?

some single core procs are more $$$ than dual

soulsaver

the only difference would be that the first is a dual-core, the second is not. lol. Sure hope youre not pissed. Good job on reading through everything though.

yeah... if you get pissed... go back to kindergarden and learn how to read first :) (meant in a teasing way, not an insulting way)

the first one that you bought is an x2. thats dual core. DUAL. the venice thats there is a single core processor. i hope you can realize the difference between dual and single cores :p

its not all about just the number thats there. if you were choosing a single core processor, im sure 100% of the ppl here who reply seriously would tell you to get a 3700+ over a 3800+. why? because it's a different core. its better. for the one you bought, the major factor is the "x2" in the name. x2 = amd's dual core line of processors.

First of all, they are not both Venice cores.

The A64 3800+ is a Venice core.
The A64 X2 3800+ is a Manchester core

I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR LETTING ME KNOW. I think that when i saw it i just freaked and didnt read it. Thanks alot seriously im retarded. I had a long day. Flew to New Orleans this morning and flew back this afternoon and to let everyone know. NEW ORLEANS IS COMING BACK!!! I am going to move back in january but everything is coming along very well. Jet lag will do strange things to a person. ;)

So is it a Manchester or Toledo, anyone know. I emailed Newegg today asking them, but have not heard back.

manchester. the toledo cores have a 1mb L2 cache, manchesters only have 512kb. those cores of course are X2 (duh) lol

Actually, the Toledo's seem to run cooler from the extra area the core has due to the disabled cache. ;)

you mean manchesters. Toledo's cache isnt disabled. Manchester yes

and I would agree, My temps are usually <29C when idle. 37C Is highest I've gotten it after alittle o'cing

XP90 with 30+cfm fan I believe

Nope, X2 3800 toledos are the ones with half the cache disabled. Dunno bout running cool. At 1.5-1.55 mine can churn out some heat. If I cut my AC unit off it soars up to 55 or more quick quick.

as jackal sais, there are both mancheater 3800+'s (and 4200+'s and 4600+), and toledo. check the revE oc'ing database. it's quite similar to the 2800+ and 3500+ clawhammer of old, that only had 512kb of working cache

No, I mean Toledo. X2 3800+ with half the cache disabled, therefore giving the core more surface area to contact the IHS, therefore lowering the temps. Look it up.

I love being incorrectly corrected.
