A law recently passed in NY forces all online retailers to charge tax, including Newegg.wtf? when did they start this? do they have a distribution center in the east coast now?
.Kind of glad you share my pain, been paying tax since Newegg's inception. Welcome to the club![]()

weird i got both my 4870's for 500 even and I got free games![]()
Listen closely... it's the sound of NewEgg jumping the shark.
price gouging + shipping + no accessories/games + NY sales tax = fail
If it is all sold out, does it still mean newegg was price gouging? Newegg is catering to all its customers, not just those that may or may not see that that the price is way above MSRP. Honestly, their stellar customer service more than makes up for their not so stable pricing scheme. And please stop with the NY sales tax!!!!! NY isn't the only state that has to pay sales tax. We in CA has been paying it for years whereas NY has only been paying it for a few months... you don't see us complaining! Its the price you pay for having a nearby wearhouse.
and you have half the gddr5. oh wait no, cuz you're running Xfire it's a forth of the memory.
Sapphire 4870x2 for $531 @ Provantage.com

Cause a million gigs of memory on a gpu have been known to do amazing things on avg sized monitors /sigh
I would say avg monitor size on these boards would be 24-26.

My guess would be 22-24.
Sure you got some rather [H]ard users gaming on 28"+ but the most I've noticed were in the 24 range.
Go 30"!!! Once you do, you won't be able to go back to anything else![]()

I game on a 46, lol
It wasn't price gouging.
MSRP was $549.99 from ATI.
This post gives a guys wholesale prices for the 4870 X2 http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1032873013&postcount=1
And the retail list of the 3 cards the egg had went from $559.99 to $579.99.
And the 579.99 figure is right at 5% over MSRP.
So, the egg did what any other vendor would do on release day.
If you want to follow what prices are being reported, then drop by the ATI video card forum.

no hot deal here, price gouging like always.
Actually Newegg doesn't operate in New York. New York passed a law to make everyone charge NY residents sales tax, even if the business does not operate in New York.
Personally I'm tired of those douchebags in New York trying to legislate the rest of the country.
