x2 in stock @ Egg

wow. + Tax for NY. screw that. Im waiting next wave of graphics cards. Or buying an hd4850.

i had planned on geting an x2 and selling my 4870 in my system and 4870 that got here yesterday. Looks like i'll be xfire by tongiht :p

Listen closely... it's the sound of NewEgg jumping the shark.

price gouging + shipping + no accessories/games + NY sales tax = fail

Great!! Now I can get two of these, xfire them and have 4gb of video ram! E-PEEN!!!

Has a new product ever been reasonably priced at release? There is a market for newborn products, you know. It's not a deal, but it's in stock for all the rich jackasses out there. ;)

Newegg usually sells new video cards at +5% or less of the MSRP price then proceeds to go up as orders fill. This is the first I've seen them jump the gun out of the gates.

wtf? when did they start this? do they have a distribution center in the east coast now?
.Kind of glad you share my pain, been paying tax since Newegg's inception. Welcome to the club

A law recently passed in NY forces all online retailers to charge tax, including Newegg.

Idunno it's got 2GB of memory on it and it's 2 gpus... when you compare it to the single GPU solutions it is a bargain. single gpu flavors are about half it's price. if you buy 2 of the single gpu flavors it's more expensive and for less memory

If it is all sold out, does it still mean newegg was price gouging? Newegg is catering to all its customers, not just those that may or may not see that that the price is way above MSRP. Honestly, their stellar customer service more than makes up for their not so stable pricing scheme. And please stop with the NY sales tax!!!!! NY isn't the only state that has to pay sales tax. We in CA has been paying it for years whereas NY has only been paying it for a few months... you don't see us complaining! Its the price you pay for having a nearby wearhouse.

It wasn't price gouging.
MSRP was $549.99 from ATI.
This post gives a guys wholesale prices for the 4870 X2 http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1032873013&postcount=1
And the retail list of the 3 cards the egg had went from $559.99 to $579.99.
And the 579.99 figure is right at 5% over MSRP.
So, the egg did what any other vendor would do on release day.

If you want to follow what prices are being reported, then drop by the ATI video card forum.

Cause a million gigs of memory on a gpu have been known to do amazing things on avg sized monitors /sigh

who buys a X2 or a GX2 to play on an avg monitor? isn't that the point of having top of the line equipment? those who buy this want high res glory.

Ahh my mistake, not too sure where I ever got the MSRP of $499, thanks for pointing that out.

Actually Newegg doesn't operate in New York. New York passed a law to make everyone charge NY residents sales tax, even if the business does not operate in New York.

Personally I'm tired of those douchebags in New York trying to legislate the rest of the country.

Wow, that fucking sucks.

So do they like send the state of NY their cut after the order or something?

If you are willing to pay $650 for the Nvidia 280 when they first come out, you should be happier to pay $550 for this one too.

By the wau NCIX has this one for $510.

i have noticed that none of the guys who hauled ass out and bought 2 or 3 gtx 280 for $650 each are not buying 2 or 3 of these. maybe problems getting anything for the gtx's?
