Hey everyone, i just wanted to say how much i HATE the X2 from artic cooling and i wish they would just bring back the good 'ol silencer back. I have a X1900XTX and i just want a silencer, i dont wanna have to go water. The X2 is the worst heatsink ever and i hope for there sake that this isnt there new design from now on. Pushing the heat that comes off my card and blowing it out an inch from my motherboard is the stupidest idea of all time. Shame on them. Oh, and the zalmon isnt much better. Why cant a company just come out with something half way decent for after market cooling for x1800/x1900 series of cards. My 2 cents............

might not be a great idea, but nothing wrong with the zalman conecepts, put an exhaust fan in the bottom of your computer if you dont like the hot air staying in the case

I've always thought Arctic Silence products were poorly designed. I think they just got lucky with the design of the Silencer, then again it didn't cool all that well either... BTW I have owned Arctic Silence products in the past so this is how I formed my opinion. They are designed for low noise more so for most efficiant cooling. They cool about the same or slightly worse than stock but at a lower noise level.

I have an AS4 on my X800XT. That made a major difference in temperatures and was even quieter than the stock.

In fact, I volt modded for an additional 40 MHz mem and 20 MHz core, with lower temps than the stock speed temps with the factory cooler.

I would expect the same design to be slightly more efficient than the X1900XTX cooler and a little less noisy if for no other reason than the noise flow is muffled by the heatsink fins with the silencer rather than directed immediately outside the case in the ATi design.

I don't know why this is such a huge deal. The majority of nvidia heatsinks don't exhaust the air out of the case. I think with a decent air flow in your case its not really a major problem.
And i have found that the accelero has reducded temps a lot for me aswell as being extremely quiet.
I would choose it any day over the stock heatsink any day!
That was a terrible design.
In my case noisy and inefficient. People shouldn't have to perform lapping just to get them to run at acceptable levels.
Mine had a machine finish and ran way hot!

Good point, Slo Gun. I think its a moot point to bitch about. Last I checked, heat rises. So it will be exhausted through the rear case fan or even power supply fan. It's a pretty lame nit-pick.

I actually have a VF900.

From the sounds of it, no one has it but they love to run their mouths. "OMG NO EXHAUST. TEH SUX!11"
