X2 4400+Toledo 2.2ghz 1mb cache, OCable?

anyone here have a 4400 please post your OC i would like to know what i should think of that chip

Search is your friend ;)

I'm building an X2 4400 tomorrow assuming all my stuff shows up - right now got a case and nothing to put in it hehe. My sig is what I'm building and I expect it to be OC'able from a lot of reading - and using search. :)

And what type of drugs are these winners your sig mentions not using? Cavemen didn't use drugs either you know...

Right now I'm at (10x250=2.500 mghz) on each core using the following...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (stock Heatsink)
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC4000
(3.3.3.8 @ 250 FSB)
DFI LANParty UT nF4 SLI-DR (bios 704-2bta)
OCZ 600W PowerStream
MSI Geforce 7800GT
NEC DVD Burner
2 x 250gb Maxtor Maxline 3's
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Plat.
Kingwin KT-436BK-wm case ,with a couple 80mm blue fans
EluminX sapphire blue keyboard
XP Pro Sp2, MCE 2005 SP2
Viewsonic VX924 19" LCD
19" viewsonic crt

I'm sure I'll be able to go farther but just got to figure out the bios first and figure out what the limits are on this cpu, ram ,etc. Haven't had time to find out what the max voltage that you can run to this cpu and ram without smoking them.

I upgraded from a A64 3500 to a x2 4400. They were both clocked at 2.63GHz, but the X2 4400 came through with the 1MB caches. I saw an increase in 3DMark03/05 of roughly 1,500 points. It was definately worth the upgrade for me not only in benchmarking, but also the WindowsXP environment. I'm water cooling mine and I'm not done overclocking it yet. I just installed it yesterday. I'm trying to reach 2.8GHz and then I'll be happy. I've heard of others getting 2.63GHz with a nice upgraded heatsink/fan. Right now I'm at 250x10.5 and HT 4.

Just clocked my new X2 4400+ to 2.75GHz. Had to increase voltage to 1.7, but my Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI has an undervolt so it's actually around 1.65V. My GeiL memory tops out at 250, so I had to raise the multiplier to 11. I'm a little worried about temperature, it went from about 31 degrees @2.63GHz to 42 degrees @2.75GHz.

Any thoughts on the temps? Is 1.7V too aggressive?

you think 42*c is high... talk about anal

im at a sweet spot on my 4400+

2.6GHz
1.525 Vcore
10.5x250
HTT=1000
and at ddr400(i wonder if i would gain performance it i went for pc4000??? *shrug*)
(had to use a stupid divider)
i really wanna break 2.7 but afraid to bump my multiplier back up... :(

just went 11x250 with a 1.55 vcore (max my board will go) prime95 fails instantly...no 2.75 for me :(

the highest oc i tried with the +4400 was 2.75 @~1.55v anything after that became unstable or too hot, but u should be able to hit 2.6 really easily (for me i hit 2.6 @1.39v)

but these ocs didnt show much of an increase after the 81.xx so now i just leave cool n quiet on at stock :p

Got my 4400 built - much fun. Been monkeying with it for almost every waking hour since Friday lol...

2750mhz is unstable even at 1.7v - 39c idle/57c load - OCCT reported failure after 22min
2585mhz @ 1.45v was looking good - 35c idle/45c load - until it failed (hard lock) after 3 hours of dual Prime95

2680mhz is 9 hour dual prime95 stable @ 1.6v - ? idle/55c load

There are some good clocks here for the 4400's. I am thinking of getting the 4400 for a second music rig I am building, but a lot of the clocks I had been seeing were a lot less than the 3800 that I have in my sig. I am just looking for a reason to buy something a little faster because for music it is all about the CPU.

You should be able to hit comprable clocks... with the added benefit of twice the L2 cache.

235x11=2585MHz @ 1.45V :)

Could go higher with more volts...but why bother? RAM maxes out at 235 1:1

Is that extra cache making a real world difference ?

cool im happy to see that the 4400 isnt a bad buy, i just clicked on PROCEED WITH PURCHASE, so now my whole rig is on its way..

i finally went for the g-skills PC4000 2x1gb ram. i wont be overclocking them, stock 250mhz is nice, if i can run it 1:1 with the fsb ill be sooo happy like 2750mhz ehhe, but it seems that im maybe aiming to high, considering the results you guys have..

hoping that the 2x 1mb l2 cache will change also the performance and that my oc can be stable at at least at 250x10.5 (2625mhz), its like FX55 speed but its an X2 and its half the price hehe.

You will enjoy the added multi-tasking ability over the FX series. That is my biggest brag about my system. I love it. Being able to encode a DVD while playing BF2... gives me a woody.
